Pex is an acronym for polyethylene, cross-linked. It is flexible tubing for hot and cold water distribution application. PEX tubing is frequently utilized in both potable water applications and in radiant heating applications. It is found all over Europe. The Europeans have been using it since the early 1970's. Its use began in the United States in the manufactured housing industry. Introduced in the United States in the 1980's PEX has seen significant growth in market demand and production.

PEX piping systems offer some advantages over competing materials like copper and steel:
  • Faster, easier installation
  • Quiet water flow
  • Lower material cost
  • Longer system life
  • Corrosion/rust resistant
  • Superior flow rate

Mueller/B&K introduces a set group of products that are compatible with PEX tubing including valves, supply stops, an adapter and tub & shower faucets.
